OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Our hotel is in the 2nd Arrondissement on Rue d'Aboukir. All the streets around carry names of places that were important in Napoleon times like Rue d'Alexandrie and Place Cairo. Aboukir was a famous battle that our Petit Thouars was the hero of.
Our street connects Rue Saint Denis to Rue Réaumur. We are in a lively street during the day. Most of the stores are small women's clothing boutiques. At night, the street is dead except for the "ladies" offering their services (It seems these services have been offered on this street since at least 1256).
A short distance away is a lively pedestrianised district with lots of restaurants and cafes. This district leads to the area around the former Les Halles.
On the other side of the arch is Rue Faubourg Saint Denis and the 10th Arrondissement.
