It has been hot here in the Loire Valley. Last week there was a storm that came through that cooled everything off for a couple of days. But the temperature has been steadily rising ever since. Today, the thermometer on the patio registered 94°F in the shade. I asked the boulangière if this was a canicule – a period of unusually hot weather like our “dog days”. “Mais non, pas de tous, c’est seulement l’été.”
