SFO - DUB

We got to the airport real early so that we could do a little socializing before the flight. I had already checked in and printed the boarding pass at home so there wasn’t much of a wait in line at the airport. Rich waited for me at the café close to the security entrance. I got myself a latte and joined him but as soon as I sat down he spotted a former colleague, Fred Chin. He called Fred over to our table. It seems Fred was at the airport have lunch with a friend. They weren’t going anywhere – just having lunch together. Who knew the airport was the new hangout place.
Fred brought us up to speed with his life since we last saw him when he was working at ISA. He had some bad experiences at Lowell High School. He transferred to Galileo where he had more bad experiences and decided to call it a day on his career. He is happily retired. He is married to a Frenchwoman and like us travels frequently to France. He has been taking the same class at City College that Tim took but doesn’t think his French is great yet.
We left Fred to find his friend. After a quick walk around the terminal we headed for security and the long slow shoeless, beltless walk through the gates. A quick kiss and I was on my way.

Thanamar go luath ar an aerfort. Ni raibh faidhb ar bith agam dul fríd an líne agus an mala a fhagáil ann (Níl ach 15 kilos agam – an meachan is fearr le dul ar Ryanair níos deanaí.) Bhuail mé le Rich arís. Bhí sé ag fánacht orm sa chaife taobh amuigh don geata. Díreach tar éis domh suí síos leis chonaic sé duine, cuid den foireann ISA, a bhí aithne mhaith aige air. Bhí Fred Chin mar múinteor stáire ag an scoil nuair a bhí an beirt again ag obair ann. Ar aon nós tá sé imithe as an múinteoracht. Tá sé posta le bean Francach agus téann sé go dtí an Fhrainc go minic. Beidh sé ag dul arís ann an seachtann seo chugainn ach ní bheidh sé timpeall an ceanntar ina bhfuilimid. Is as Arras a céile, cathair beag thart faoi Lille i dtúisceart na Fraince.

Ar an éitleán bhí mé suite ar aon taobh le bean ó Eamhan Mhaca agus iníon. Tá said ina gcónaí i Nevada agus tá said ag dul abhaile chun cúirt a thabhairt ar a gclan. Thosaigh said ag caint liom riamh mé a bheith i mo shuí, fiú. Cheap mé go raibh said chun bheith ag caint an t-am go léir ach tar éis uair a’ chloig d’imigh an beirt acu ina gcodladh, buíochas le Dia.
