FRUITS DE MER

Phil hosted ShrimpBoatSunday in honor of his sister Annie who is leaving on Monday.
Christelle was invited as well as Kerry's sister and her family who are visiting from Cornwall.  We rounded out the guest list (We could have played a soccer match or even a cricket match if there were another 11 young people in this village).
The menu,  as always, consists of a big polystyrene boat filled with oysters, shrimp, bulot, and ecrivisse, all delightfully laid out on a bed of seaweed by the fishmonger at the Sunday market.  Phil goes early in the morning to have his boat filled.  He keeps everything cool and fresh in the cave until showtime.  When we are finished he puts the seaweed on his garden and stores the boat until the next occasion (probably, next Sunday when the Czechs, Danny and Stanya, are in town).

 Views of the neighbors' ruins.

Phil is hard at work getting everything ready for the feast.

Was this carved into the tuffeau to commemorate the defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Leipzig?
