We are on the road early today.
Our trip to La Rochelle has been shortened by a day so we can go back to Montsoreau for Rich's medications that he left in the fridge. He had a phone consultation with Dr. Gavin who thought he could survive for a few days until he reaches a pharmacy in Dublin. But Dr. Gavin's tone of voice always indicates the opposite of what he says, so Rich is not going to risk dying on this particular trip.
We took the bus from the train station in La Rochelle to the island of Île de Ré. We can ride the bus around the island all day and return in the evening for a flat €5 per person. Par contre, the bridge toll is a hefty €16 per vehicle and we wouldn't have had the drama of the duelling bus drivers to entertain us.
