Rich needed to go to Bléré to pick up a cabinet he had bought the previous week when he went there with Les Willis.
Bléré is on the other side of Tours, a long way from our village, though it is still in the Départment of Indre-et-Loire (our neighboring départment). We decided to take the A85 autoroute, the fastest way to get there, since we didn't need to go into Tours.
As soon as I saw the Aigremont windmill on the outskirts of town I realized that I had been here before. Last year when the SantaCruzans, Ellen and Tom were doing the Grand Tour I took them to Chenenceau in the Citroën AX (Ride of the Valkyries). We happened on the windmill as we were making our way back to Montsoreau. What a day that was. We had a picnic in the shaded area bordering the parking lot.
Today we had lunch at LeValentin in the center of town. When we got there we were practically the only ones, but it soon filled up. Even on Saturday it is a popular spot. We had our salades (maigret de canard for me, gésiers de volailles for Himself), then went for a walkabout in the town.
The brocante in Brézé where we went to pick up the cabinet, a very well organized place with garden huts full of vintage stuff organized by theme, such as cooking tools, office furniture, beauty shop.
A very impressive Hôtel de Ville that was once a chateau for the local bigwig.

yep, I remember the ride and the windmill. Got some fine photos of a field of wildflowers next to the windmill. Yes, what a great trip. Ride of the valkyries huh!
The Citröen AX was the valkyry.
Oh, how I thank Shiva that we have the Modus now.
